The Short Version

We collect what we need to make FlowBlock work for you. We don't sell your data. We never share your tasks or personal content with advertisers, and we don't do creepy cross-web tracking or profiling. The one exception: if you reach us by clicking one of our Google ads, a pair of conversion cookies tell us that ad worked — that's it, and they only load for people who came from an ad. Your tasks are yours.

Hi, We're FlowBlock

FlowBlock is a productivity app built for creative minds who think differently. We know trust matters, especially when you're putting your goals, ideas, and daily life into an app. So we're going to be straight with you about what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do (and don't do) with it.

No legal jargon maze. No hidden gotchas. Just honest answers.

What We Collect

Account Information

What: Email address, password (encrypted), display name (optional)

Why: So you can log in and access your stuff across devices. That's it.

Sign-In with Google or Apple

What: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your account.

Why: To create your FlowBlock account and let you log in without a separate password.

What we do with it: We use this data solely for account creation and authentication. We do not share your Google or Apple data with any third parties.

Your Tasks and Items

What: The blocks (tasks), flows (focus sessions), projects, tags, schedules, and notes you create

Why: This is literally the point of the app. We store it so you can see it, complete it, and feel accomplished.

Subscription & Purchase Data

What: Subscription status, plan type, purchase dates, and transaction identifiers

Why: To manage your Flow Pass subscription, verify your access, and handle billing. Purchase processing is handled by Apple (App Store) or Stripe (web) — we never see your full payment details.

Usage Data

What: How you use the app (features used, buttons tapped, time spent), device type, operating system, app version

Why: To make FlowBlock better. We want to know which features you love, which ones confuse you, and where we can improve.

What we DON'T do: Track your location, read your contacts, access your camera or microphone, or collect anything beyond what's needed for the app to function.

Auto-Scheduling & Smart Features

What: Your task patterns, completion times, energy preferences, and scheduling history

Why: The planner learns your rhythms to suggest better times for tasks. FlowBlock needs to see patterns to make helpful suggestions.

Important: This data stays within FlowBlock. We don't send it to third parties to build profiles on you.

  • Lock your data away so you can't export it

Who Can See Your Data

Our Team

Only the people who absolutely need access to do their jobs (engineering, customer support). We keep this list small.

Service Providers

We use some trusted services to run FlowBlock:

  • Cloud hosting (to store your data securely)
  • Analytics (to understand app usage in aggregate)
  • Email services (to send password resets and important updates)

These providers are bound by contracts that prevent them from using your data for their own purposes.

Legal Requirements

We may share data if legally required (subpoena, court order). We'll notify you if this happens, unless we're legally prohibited from doing so.

Nobody Else

That's the complete list. We don't sell data to brokers. We don't share with "partners" for "improved experiences."

Whether you're in Europe, California, or anywhere else, you have rights over your data:

Access Your Data

You can see everything we have about you. Just ask.

Export Your Data

Want to leave? Take your tasks with you. We support data export because your productivity history is yours.

Delete Your Data

Request account deletion and we'll wipe your data from our systems. Some backups may persist temporarily (up to 30 days) for technical reasons, but they get purged too.

Correct Your Data

Something wrong? Tell us and we'll fix it.

Restrict Processing

You can ask us to limit how we use your data while you decide what to do.

Object to Processing

You can opt out of analytics and non-essential data processing.

Data Portability

Get your data in a standard format you can actually use.

How to exercise these rights: Email us at hello@flow-block.com or use the settings in the app. We'll respond within 30 days (usually faster).

Data Security

We take security seriously:

  • Encryption in transit: All data is encrypted when moving between your device and our servers (TLS 1.3)
  • Encryption at rest: Your data is encrypted on our servers
  • Secure authentication: Passwords are hashed with industry-standard algorithms (never stored in plain text)
  • Regular security audits: We test our systems for vulnerabilities
  • Access controls: Only authorized team members can access production data

No system is 100% secure (anyone who claims otherwise is lying), but we work hard to protect your data.

Data Retention

While You're a User

We keep your data as long as you have an account so the app keeps working.

After You Delete Your Account

  • Immediate: Account data, tasks, and personal info are deleted
  • Within 30 days: Backup copies are purged
  • Exception: We may retain some data if legally required (tax records, legal disputes)

Analytics Data

Aggregated, anonymized analytics are retained longer because they can't be traced back to you.

Cookies and Tracking

On the Web App

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in.

One exception, only for ad visitors: if you arrive by clicking one of our Google ads, we measure whether that ad led you to sign up or create your first block. Two cookies do that: Google's own conversion cookie (_gcl_*), and one we set ourselves (fb_click_id) recording the same ad-click ID, so the measurement still works after Safari expires Google's. Both are shared between this site and the app, because the ad brings you here and you sign up there. Those are the only advertising cookies we use, they load only for people who came from our ads, they hold nothing but that click ID, and we use them solely to measure our own ads. If you reach FlowBlock any other way, none of it loads.

We don't use:

  • Advertising cookies for anyone who didn't arrive from one of our ads
  • Third-party tracking pixels beyond that Google ad-conversion measurement
  • Cross-site tracking, retargeting, or ad profiling
  • Fingerprinting

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics that don't track you across the web. We see aggregate patterns (how many people use feature X), not individual surveillance.

Children's Privacy

FlowBlock is not designed for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from kids. If you're a parent and believe your child has used FlowBlock, contact us and we'll delete their data.

International Data Transfers

If you're outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US where our servers are located. We ensure appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses for EU users) to protect your data during transfer.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as FlowBlock evolves. When we make significant changes:

  1. We'll update the "Last updated" date
  2. We'll notify you in the app or via email
  3. We'll give you time to review before changes take effect

We won't make sneaky changes that reduce your rights without telling you.

Legal basis for processing:

  • Contract: Processing your tasks and account data to provide the service you signed up for
  • Legitimate interest: Analytics and security to improve and protect the app
  • Consent: Any optional features or communications you opt into

Supervisory Authority: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we've violated your rights.

For California Users (CCPA)

You have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect
  • Right to delete your personal information
  • Right to opt-out of sales (we don't sell your data, so this doesn't apply)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

We don't sell personal information. We don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

The Bottom Line

We built FlowBlock because we needed a productivity tool that respects creative, ADHD minds. Part of that respect is being honest about data practices. We collect what we need, protect it carefully, and give you control.
